Alex Calvo is Founder and Chief Investment Officer of the Calvo Funds where he focuses global macroeconomic and financial markets. He is well recognized for perspectives and frequently featured as a commentator on currencies and fixed income markets.  Alex through the Calvo Funds, LLC also serves as an advisor to Investors Capital and is a member of their Investment Management Committee.

Alex has a long and established history as a leader in the investment community. He was formally the Director of Global Fixed Income at Franklin Templeton Investments where he directed all global macroeconomic and fixed income research and investments. Alex served as a member of Franklin Templeton’s Global Economic Committee and Global Asset Allocation Committee.

Mr. Calvo completed coursework toward a Ph.D. in Economics at Boston University.  His fields of study encompassed Financial Economics, Monetary Theory, and International Economics.

Before completing course work toward a Doctorate degree, he received a Masters degree (MALD) from The Fletcher School at Tufts University, specializing in International Economics and Finance, during which he also cross-registered at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.

Mr. Calvo also received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Binghamton University in New York, prior to which he studied Electronic Engineering at the Universidad Nacional de San Juan in Argentina.
